Merry Christmas With Love Fro

Merry Christmas
With Love From Bondi

The generosity of our community, Surf Club members and local businesses has shone through yet again! Our Giving Tree is positively heaving with gifts for those less fortunate which will be distributed at our Christmas lunch and afterwards.

Everyone will receive a hamper too thanks to Kathmandu, Bondi Wash and many others.

We look forward to seeing you all later this morning. Again, if anyone is able to help out, please come down and join us!

Wishing you all a safe, joyful and happy Christmas Day!

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot L

It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas …
The Blue Room is looking very festive ahead of tomorrow’s Christmas lunch, with decorations generously supplied by Chas Clarkson Christmas & Illumination!
Everyone is invited to join us and, if you can’t be there for any reason, you can still contribute by leaving a gift under the Giving Tree in the Main Hall right up until Christmas morning.
If you have time to spare and are keen to help out, come down on the day for set up (8-11am), lunch and entertainment (11am-2:30pm) or clean up and pack down (2:30-4pm).
We’re looking forward to a great Christmas Day, welcoming everyone to our Club for a special meal and entertainment (all free).
Come down and be part of the fun!!!

Christmas at Bondi This year

Christmas at Bondi

This year the Surf Club is hosting Christmas lunch for all-comers in the Blue Room.

You’ll notice plenty of activity around the Club in coming days. From today the food will be arriving and we’ll be starting to decorate and set up.

We’d love your help! If you can’t be there on the day but would like to contribute to this great community event, feel free to place a gift under the Giving Tree in the Main Hall up until Christmas morning. If you have time to spare and are keen to help out, contact organiser Sebastian Cassie on xmas@bondisurfclub.com. He’ll get back to you via email with all the details this week.

Or just come down on the day and join us.

We need helpers for:
* Set up (cooking, preparing the food and setting tables) – 8am-11am
* Lunch and Entertainment (serving food, sitting, chatting and sharing the meal) – 11am-2:30pm

Christmas Bottles and Bronze G

Christmas Bottles and Bronze Graduation

This Sunday’s Bottles (19 Dec) is the final one of the year and it’s going to be huge!

Almost 80 new lifesavers will graduate this week and join our patrols for the busy holiday season. BM1 and BM2 complete their eight-week training course with their assessments this weekend, the one-week Lightning Course has been on the beach all week and will be put through their paces tomorrow and a large group of SRCs completed theirs on Tuesday. Come along to Bottles, introduce yourselves and welcome them to the fold.

With Christmas less than a week away, there’s also a caroller coming to sing acapella for us in the Main Hall along with our special Surf Club Santa on his throne so you can make your Christmas wishes and take that holiday snap. The action kicks off at 5:30pm with treats for the kids, and pizza and music

To become a Lifesaver you trai

To become a Lifesaver you train both on and off the beach. The classroom sessions will cover the theory and practical skills in resuscitation and first aid. The beach sessions will cover how to carry out a rescue, work as a team and manage the beach.

Our new Surf Lifesaving Austra

Our new Surf Lifesaving Australia yellow patrol shirts have an Ampol logo on the arm – but Ampol has been concerned with improving beach safety for a long time, as seen in this article from the Bondi Surfer from 1962. Ampol commissioned a colour movie to showcase surf lifesaving techniques with the aim of educating the general public in resuscitation methods.

You can see more of the Bondi Surfers from the 1950s and 1960s here https://bondisurfclub.com/the-club/history/bondi-surfer-list-of-past-editions/

Well done all with a busy day

Well done all with a busy day today!

Days like today make you very proud of every section of our great club.

So good to see all the Nipper crews having a great day with a special guest visiting, and a busy BBQ

Big kudos to Educations trainers and assessors completing the Bronze and SRC courses for a record number of candidates, who will join patrols in time for summer holidays.

Meanwhile the lifesaving patrol was treating a dislocated shoulder and keeping an eye on the growing crowd of a hot day, while IRBs and boards provided water safety.

Marketing have a large boxing activation this morning and will have Bottles and Bronze Graduation this evening.

While all this activity was buzzing, we had Dave Sharma MP visiting to see the ski, IRB and new motor funded from federal grants, along with funding support from a donation from John Rantzen and sponsorship from Adam D’Angelo’s
