Australian Open Men’s Tennis Finals at Bottles tomorrow!

This Sunday we’re showing the men’s final of the Australian Open on the back deck at the Club, so you can watch all the action with friends in the sunshine and fresh air.

Channel your inner Rafa or Ash (Let’s go Barty!) – come dressed in your tennis gear or as your favourite tennis star, past or present! There’ll be prizes for best dressed.

The Blue Room is offering special deals for the night – $5 beers from 5pm and $20 mains with a free beer.

The Annual Clubbie Classic is

The Annual Clubbie Classic is on tomorrow from 7:30am.

The event is free for all members and includes a boards sprint race, relay, M-shaped course, and the crowd-favourite judged style riding event. Participants get a free limited edition Clubbie Classic t-shirt.

Meet the dedicated Lifesavers

Meet the dedicated Lifesavers of Bondi Surf Club who have patrols named in their honour.

H.B. (Tibby) Fletcher [back left] joined Bondi Surf Club in 1912. He was selected as a member of the first instructional team by SLSA in 1921 and was also a member of the first gear inspection committee, he was on the SLSA board of examiners, and Vice President of SLSA.

A consummate swimmer and veteran of many surf races and rescues, Tibby was ‘scratch man’ for the Bondi Swimming Club and twice winner of the three-mile marathon event. H B Tibby Fletcher is the only member to receive an Honour Cap. Tibby represented BSBLSC winning 5 Australian Championships in R&R and won Premierships as an ‘A’ team member from 1914 – 1928.

Tibby also received a Royal Humane & Shipwreck Society award for bravery in rescuing a shark attack victim on Coogee Beach in 1922.

Our 8 week Bronze Medallion tr

Our 8 week Bronze Medallion training courses are led by an amazing team of volunteers who dedicate their time to teach beginners. The sessions run twice per week; one classroom based and one on the beach.

Our trainers are Lifesavers who share their knowledge and lead the official Surf Lifesaving Australia Bronze Medallion course.

The RSL ran their “Our Local Hero” campaign asking the community to nominate someone who goes above and beyond for our community.

Rozanne Green was nominated and won! Roz is the leader of our Bondi Surf Bather’s Lifesaving Club – Sliver Salties.

‘Roz’s positive outlook, sense of humour and encouragement has helped countless local seniors throughout Covid times by promoting their own health and inclusiveness.’ Roz is pictured here with her close friend, Meredith who nominated her to be, Our Local Hero.

Last Weekend at Bondi Surf Clu

Last Weekend at Bondi Surf Club

It started with a giant inflatable mango out the front of the Clubhouse and ended with mangos on the barbecue, dinner and drinks with friends in the sunshine on the back deck!

Saturday was the @Calypso Mangoes activation. The kitted-out Kombi & Co. van, individual cups of fresh mango and Gelatissimo mango gelato were a real hit with everyone.

There were enough mangoes left to go on the barbecue on Sunday night along with freshly-made salads prepared by the The Blue Room Bondi and meat for the barbecue thanks to Harris Farm Markets.

Join us again next Sunday at Bottles for some sunshine, fresh air, good food and drinks and good company to see out the weekend in Bondi. The Blue Room is open from 5pm for members and their guests.

Thanks to Brett Pattinson, Michael Hallam and Will Mitchell for making it all happen last weekend.
