Today is International Volunte

Today is International Volunteer Day and we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our Bondi Surf Club volunteers.

It really does take a dedicated community to keep our beaches safe. We would like to thank the patrolling members and the new Bronzies who are on the front line on the beach keeping the public safe. We would also like to thank all the volunteers who work tirelessly behind the scenes on the committees and board of management, who educate the new recruits, train the members/athletes, ensure the equipment is safe and working, who fix the problems, raise and manage the funds to run the club, who create the community, and who motivate and lead their teams for success.

Join us for Bottles this afternoon to celebrate Elle Kuhta’s incredible 900km run from Byron Bay to Bondi Beach. She is finishing in Bondi this afternoon! So come on down and join Fletcher Patrol as they welcome their patrol member home… and hear her story.

Copacabana SLSC’s Bottles on Friday night started the celebratory parties as Elle came through the Central Coast! Let’s give her a huge Bondi Surf Club welcome home to finish an amazing achievement!

To become a Lifesaver you trai

To become a Lifesaver you train both on and off the beach for your Bronze Medallion. To start you must be able to swim 400m in 9 minutes. We will teach you everything else that you need to know!

The classroom sessions will cover the theory and practical skills in resuscitation and first aid. The beach sessions will cover how to carry out a rescue, work as a team and manage the beach.

The 10k Bondi to Watson’s Bay

The 10k Bondi to Watson’s Bay walk is on tomorrow!

The Silver Salties are inviting Bondi Surf Club members to walk 10ks with them from Bondi to Watson’s Bay on Wednesday 8 December. Lunch has been booked at Watson’s Bay Boutique Hotel at 11.45pm.

If 10km is too far, you can walk 4km to Dudley Page Reserve and catch 380 bus to Watson’s Bay.

– Starts 9.15am, 8/12/21 from Bondi Surf Club
– Must be double vaxxed
– PLEASE RSVP ASAP to Rozanne to confirm numbers at Watson Bay Hotel. silversalties@bondisurfclub.com

To return home you can catch 380 bus back to Bondi, or ferry to Rose Bay or Circular Quay.

Course Details:
– First 10km of Bondi to Manly Walk
– Walk is easy to follow. There is a whale on footpath to show the way

The BSBLSC is thrilled to be a

The BSBLSC is thrilled to be a recipient of a $5k Community Heritage Grant under the category of Maritime Museums of Australia Project Support Scheme (MMAPSS).

The grant will enable the Club to establish our heritage collection as nationally significant. This will allow us to improve care of the collection, identify items for conservation activities, help bring the collection closer to being digitally accessible, and assist in reaching our goal to have the collection on display for the Australian public.

Archivist and historian Christine Yeats has been engaged to assess our collection that is a mix of documents, publications, memorabilia, textiles and other items associated with surf lifesaving.

The assessment will be based as much on the intangible heritage value of the BSBLSC as an organisation – being the world’s first surf club, the birthplace of surf lifesaving, and the creators of the surf reel – as much as it is an

This Sunday (5 December) at Bo

This Sunday (5 December) at Bottles we celebrate Fletcher patrol’s Elle Kuhta’s epic run of more than 900km from Byron Bay to Bondi to raise funds for the Surf Lifesaving Foundation. She’ll be arriving at the Club in the afternoon and everyone is invited to Bottles from 5pm to hear her story, congratulate her and share a drink. The bar will be open from 5pm and friends and family are welcome. See you Sunday.
