Bondi Farewells Beloved Pasticceria Papa After a Decade of Delights

For ten years, Pasticceria Papa has been a pillar of Bondi Beach’s vibrant culinary scene. But after a decade of serving up sweet treats and savoury delights, the iconic Italian restaurant has sadly closed its doors.

The much-loved bakery and eatery, renowned for its delectable pastries, creamy gelato, and authentic paninis, announced their closure on Instagram.  Their final day of service was Sunday, 28th April.

Pasticceria Papa cultivated a loyal following, as evidenced by their impressive 20,000 strong Instagram following. This dedicated fan base grew thanks to Papa’s unwavering commitment to bringing a taste of Italy to Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

While Bondi Beach bids farewell to Papa, the family business isn’t disappearing entirely.  Their Haberfield and Five Dock locations in Sydney’s inner west will continue to operate, welcoming staff members from the Bondi store.

Papa received critical acclaim from the very beginning. A 2014 review on the website Broadsheet praised the restaurant as a haven where patrons could “blissfully consume baked, frozen, cured, and cooked delights enough to feed a small Italian village.”

The closure announcement on Papa’s Instagram acknowledged the outpouring of support from the Bondi community. They expressed their gratitude, stating, “We had a fantastic 10 years at Bondi Beach and are so grateful to the local Bondi community for supporting us over the years.”

While the lease ending at the Bondi location prompted this chapter’s closure, Pasticceria Papa remains optimistic about the future. “We have decided to close this chapter and are excited for new ventures to come,” their post reads, leaving fans eagerly awaiting Papa’s next move.

The heartfelt message concluded with a final thank you: “We would like to say a BIG Thank You to our amazing customers and Bondi staff for all the love, support, and hard work they have provided over the past 10 years.”

For those seeking their Italian favourites, Pasticceria Papa encourages patrons to visit their Haberfield and Five Dock stores, which will “continue to trade as normal.”
