ALBERT – Women in Powercraft 2
ALBERT – Women in Powercraft 2023
For the first time ALBERT ran Women in powercraft weekend program in Fingal Beach, Hunter Branch.
50 Women, 16 IRB’S, 2 RWC and a can-do attitude arrived for a weekend of powercraft/ lifesaving upskilling.
It was a weekend of learning, sharing and exploring new ways to operate the IRB , They built on their rescue skills, knowledge, made new friends and networks on one of the nicest beaches and great club.
The women came from across the state and even interstate to experience the weekend alongside like-minded lifesavers building the strength of their lifesaving capabilities.
They collaborated, inspired, motivated, lead, learned, smiled and had fun as a group to help each other and build confidence.
Bondi IRB members that participated in the weekend Kristy Smith Julie Pritchard Alex Ayscough Kirsten Newrick. Ashleigh Wallis Breaden, Luana Eliis, and we welcomed Elena Cormack (QLD) and Jennie Smith (South Maroubra) who didn’t have

The 81st Stan & Basil McDonald
The 81st Stan & Basil McDonald Relay was held yesterday.
What a great day, for a great race. This year we came out on top with a hard-fought victory. North Bondi fought hard and gave it everything they had, but so did we. The stan mac is more than just a race it’s a battle, a tradition, a long-fought battle between two great clubs.
Congrats to all the swimmers, you make both clubs very proud, thank you to Dori & Nick who put their heart and soul into our team each and every year.
Also, a big shout out to Matt Hamilton & Simon Storry who between them have raced in the stan mac for North Bondi for over 50 years combined, and both said this was their last race… what an achievement!!!.
It’s days like these that should make us all proud, whether you are on the winning or losing team, Bondi

Today, sadly, we lower our flag to half mast to pay our respects to an active patrolling member of our club, Andrew Hoppe.
Andrew has held many roles in our club over the years, mustering enthusiasm for the annual lIfesaving parade at the Mardi Gras, organising our Higher awards program, and generally helping out wherever he could.
He will be sadly missed by the club and we will advise more details on the funeral service when available.
A big shout out to our Captain
A big shout out to our Captain of Lifesaving Nixy Krite, who was on the jetski yesterday and saved a large number of people yesterday. Her quick response, skill and experience meant that those people were going home to their families.
Well done Nixy!
