Bondi Surf Club is apolitical

Bondi Surf Club is apolitical and is very proud of having strong relationships with all levels and sides of government.

Our organisation is dedicated to ensuring “no lives are lost” on Bondi Beach, and to achieve this we need to advocate to all levels of government to seek support to ensure we can deliver on our mission.

Over the past few years we have received tangible support from different political parties across local, state and federal government levels to assist in our lifesaving equipment, rescue operations for floods, protecting our club heritage, and providing education opportunities.

Our biggest challenge ahead is to update our building to meet the needs of members, while protecting our heritage.

We thank Dave Sharma for having taken a keen interest in this project over the years, and helping us make our case for financial support.

Blue and White Masters Win On

Blue and White Masters Win

On Tuesday night (5 April) at Aussies, Dori Miller became the latest inductee into SLSA’s Masters Legends Hall of Fame. The Masters Legends category was established in 2019 and inductees are chosen by SLSA alone, without any process for nominations. There were only two inductees this year: Dori and Michael Geldz from Queenscliff SLSC.

The Masters Legends Hall of Fame is a very select group. There were only 10 members inducted in the inaugural 2019 group and there are only two other women in their number.

The award recognises Dori’s outstanding contribution and achievements in Masters competition and comes as Bondi’s Masters Team competes for their fifth consecutive Aussies championship.

The team went into the Thursday morning’s competition in a tight race with host club Kurrawa and only the surfing competition to go.

Australian Open Men’s Tennis Finals this evening!

We’re showing the men’s final of the Australian Open on the back deck at the Club, so you can watch all the action with friends in the sunshine and fresh air.

Meet our member Will!

Will is Bondi Surf Club’s Welcoming Officer, and has the coffee cart out the front of the Club. So, he is perfectly suited to welcome prospective and current members.

If you are heading down to the beach or into the surf club be sure to stop and say hi – and perhaps pick up the best coffee in Bondi! Nothing better after some training at the beach!

The cart operates 7am to 1pm Tuesday to Friday and 7am to 3pm on weekends, offering coffee, tea, hot choc, chai latte, and cold drinks including water (in plant-based packaging) and coconut water.

The final rounds of the Nutri-

The final rounds of the Nutri-Grain IronMan Series are happening in Kurrawa Beach this weekend.

We introduced you last Friday to one of our founding members and a great athlete, Tibby Fletcher. He was so important to the club we have named a patrol after him.

This weekend a young member of the Fletcher family is continuing in Tibby’s footsteps as a great athlete and Lifesaver. Corey Fletcher who came 4th in the rounds at North Bondi a few weeks back will be competing at Kurrawa.

To become a Lifesaver you trai

To become a Lifesaver you train both on and off the beach. The classroom sessions will cover the theory and practical skills in resuscitation and first aid. The beach sessions will teach you how to carry out a rescue, work as a team and manage the beach.

This season’s last 8 week Bronze Medallion course to become a Lifesaver starts on 6th February.
